The Global Peace Pole Day is held on November 22nd every year, presented by May Peace Prevail on Earth International™, a global not-for-profit charity that develops peace activities for communities and youth. Peace Poles are one of the most recognized monuments dedicated to peace on earth.

The event is a multi-media celebration of music, art, and presentations from friends of the Peace Pole Project representing each of the seven continents of the world.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico was Recognized!

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Guerrero

In 2021, the tropical beach community of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico, was recognized in this exciting international event that was broadcast to over 250,000 communities around the world.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo was the first community in Mexico to participate in the Amig@s de la Paz Sustainable Tourism Program, sponsored by May Peace Prevail on Earth International, that recognizes communities, businesses, organizations, and individuals that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Southfield, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; and San Diego, California, are also “Amig@s de la Paz” communities. The goal is to promote tourism and cultural interchange between the cities.

Ing. Rogelio Suarzo Ortiz, the Manager of International Relations & Investments for FONATUR Ixtapa, presented the community’s Peace Pole Program which began in 2010. FONATUR is the Federal Tourism Fund that develops tourist destinations, like Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Cancun, Los Cabos, Huatulco, and others.
