Enjoy the Traditional Dances of Mexico!

Mexico is one of the most diverse countries in the world with over 68 officially recognized indigenous groups. It is important to honor these diverse cultures and to pass the history and tradition to our youth.
Aztec Dancers Teaching the Young
These photos and videos were taken in 2018, in Muzquiz, Coahuila. The community was established by African Americans who escaped slavery in the United States. The different groups in the community continue to teach the traditional dances and customs to the youth.
I was captivated by these traditional Aztec dancers. They wore shoes that reminded me of tap dancing. And, it was so impressive to see the traditions passed on to the little ones.
GRUPO DE DANZA ZIHUACUAHUTLI
In 2020, the International Day of Peace Celebration for the May Peace Prevail on Earth International Foundation was hosted by the beach town of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico. The Grupo de Danza Zihuachuahurli were the special guests who performed this traditional ceremony with a surprise visitor!
