During September, Mexico remembers and honors six young cadets, ranging in age from thirteen to nineteen, who died defending their military academy at Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City in 1847 during the Mexican-American War. There is a monument dedicated to these young men.
Every year on September 13th, the country stops to honor these brave young men. Mexican school children are taught their names.
In the words of President Harry Truman of the United States, “Brave men do not belong to any one country.”
