In 1910, the situation that existed in Mexico was not very different from what existed in the colonial era a hundred years before: A small group controlled industry and trade while most lived in poverty; there were no free elections, and common citizens did not participate in the political life of the country. The difference was made in 1910, when a small middle class of people was willing to fight and command a rebellion, leading to a new constitution in 1917.
Every city has a parade or activity to celebrate this day.
