The “Cinco de Mayo” holiday celebrates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army in “The Battle of Puebla” in 1862. Cinco de Mayo is commonly recognized in American cities with large Mexican populations. Many Americans mistakenly think that Cinco de Mayo is Mexican Independence Day, but the national holiday is September 16^th.   The Battle of Puebla also impacted the result of the USA Civil War.
