Cocreamos… Means We Cocreate

By: Marisol Saachi Pris, Owner

Cocreamos is an urban sanctuary in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, and my home in the middle of the city. Inside, you feel the freshness of keeping our old guardians: a big Banjan tree, our living altar, and our African Almond tree, both homes for local birds and insects.

I am Marisol, and I am a Yoga facilitator, Massage Therapist, Permacultor, and an apprentice in Mayan -Tolteca Knowledge. I was born and raised in the Yucatan Peninsula, as was all my family lineage. We navigate much deterioration of our culture and land, but I am still an optimist envisioning a better future. I feel thankful to share my vision with you.

Cocreamos is a Sanctuary of Ancestrality, Family, Childhood, Youth, Nature, Education, and Health – a Sanctuary for Life

Opened in 2020, we are beginning with snail steps, as the Zapatistas say: “Little step by step, as the little snail does”. This is how we believe we can best construct for the future. We promote the practice of ancestral and contemporary tools and sciences for developing the maximum expression of the human being and preparing together for “The New Earth” and the “New Humanity”, with a desire to unlearn the rush of old Capitalism, and its ways of making business and expectations. We dance with the natural calendar of Mother Earth.

Here, we host six seasonal Farmer’s Markets a year to uplift local producers and re-integrate the use of barter – an open space for free expression and education. We welcome our neighbors and families for many holistic and environmental activities by learning workshops and sharing art.

Cocreamos is like a tree… Its main Branches area:

Yoga and Wellness for All Stages of Life

We share yoga classes and workshops for kids, preteens, teens, and adults. On weekends, we host different events for healers and teachers in the community… Family Consultations, Women’s Circles, Mini Retreat Days, Ceremonies and offer an immense variety of wellness tools.

Mayan Knowledge, Healing, Language, and Culture

We work with elders who come and give workshops and ceremonies, but we are still building bridges for this dream to be fully realized.

Mexican Ancestral Knowledge and Healing

We offer the Temazcal Ceremony, open to the community and privately. We aim to host more workshops and deep studies of the Toltec tradition.

Ancestral Philosophies

We welcome all First Nations traditions. Since Playa del Carmen is a cosmopolitan place, with visitors from all over the world, Cocreamos is a special place to come to share and learn diverse ideas about the principles of the cosmovision of the native lands.

Urban Permaculture and Eco Techniques

We choose to change our habits and to better embrace the future. We are integrating eco techniques into the property and workshops through compost and gardens. Our upcoming goals are for compost toilets and rainwater catchments.

We will host a Diplomate on urban auto-sustainability, for one month in February 2024, and welcome visitors to come and learn skills such as growing your food and making your organic supplies for your plants and your home for a bright future.

Social Economy and Cooperative Systems

We seek to become an Urban Cooperative incubator to help people organize and create cooperatives that are good for society and the ecosystem.

Education

We hold classes for English and Spanish for all ages with plans to support test preparation for elementary, middle, and high school students. Neighborhood kids and their families come to play and learn, and tourists can live for a short or longer term.
