Photos from my visit during Holy Week

“Although I usually hate big cities I am loving Mexico City. Started with a hop-on, hop-off bus tour of the historic area. It was so interesting seeing all the sites. The architecture is very impressive. I am finding, even though I read about the places, after seeing them I appreciate the art and history even more and have to go back to get more facts. “
“A fun day of colour (color) and meeting great people floating down the canals of the gardens in Xochimilco. We toured on a boat with a family… and it turned out to be very international…Mexico, USA, Colombia, Nicaragua, and of course Canada. So glad we didn’t have to float down the canal all by ourselves. It was such fun!!!”
“I love Aztec, Mayan, and pre-Hispanic dancers, so it was thrilling to see them dancing and giving cleansing beside the Cathedral Metropolitana on Easter morning. Viewing the inside of the Cathedral was beautiful, only to be topped off with a tour inside of the Museo Naciónal de Arte… the most impressive thing for me was the staircase. Stumbled into the Post Office which again had stunning stairs. Walking through Alameda Park was entertaining, with horses, kids playing in the fountains, clowns, and much more.”
An archaeological zone 50 km northeast of downtown Mexico. . . or, one hour on the bus which cost 104 pesos but as a senior, I got it for half price and into the site for free. Gotta love the INAPAM (Mexican senior citizen’s) card.
This is the site of the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. We arrived at 10:00 am and it was already hot, but there were not a lot of people. No, I did not do the 248 steps to the top… it was enough just doing the up and down of the other sites. It was an awesome experience to be there and read and see the history… the photos just don’t do it justice… just a lot of rocks…. but then I do love rocks.
“Too much to see in one trip. I’ll have to come back.”
