UTCGG Tech University Invites Educators to 1st Regional Language Conference- July 6 & 7, 2017

The Language Academy of the Universidad Tecnológica de la Costa Grande de Guerrero (UTCGG) in Petalán invites teachers, educators, and language instructors (English, French and Spanish) to its 1st Regional Language Conference on July 6-7, 2017. The event is aimed at teachers at all levels of education who seek professional linguistic-cultural training to update, improve, share and dialogue with linguistic professionals about their techniques and methodologies of teaching classes. The event will include plenary sessions, conferences, research exhibitions and workshops to be given by national-level professionals in the cultural-linguistic field.

Professor Iván Omar Zapata from Santiago, Mexico City.

Session: Renewing Teaching-Learning Techniques, Plenary.

Biodata: The professor holds a Master in Business Administration with a major in International Business from Texas A & M International University, and Master’s degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from the Blaise Pascal University in France. He is Deputy Director of International Cooperation in the General Coordination of Technological and Polytechnic Universities. In addition, he is responsible for the Mobility Program to France MEXPROTEC, he is a trainer of French teachers in public and private institutions, and Coordinator of the National Commission of French Teachers of the Subsystem of Technological and Polytechnic Universities.

Professor Patricia Ann Talley, Zihuatanejo.

Session: Teaching Peace through Language Studies, Plenary.

Biodata: Patricia Ann Talley is an international business professional with over 40 years of experience. She holds a Master in Business Administration with a specialty in marketing from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management from California State University in Long Beach. Before coming to Mexico, she was president of a marketing agency in Chicago. She has lived in Zihuatanejo for 20 years. She wrote eight bi-lingual training manuals and taught English to hotel industry employees and is editor of an English magazine. Professor Talley is a representative for Peace Pals International™ and works to develop art, writing, and technological programs for youth.

Professor Blanca Rey Oñat, Baja California Sur.

Session: Evaluation Based on Competences, Workshop.

Biodata: Blanca Rey has taught at The Anglo, ITESM and Universidad Panamericana among other places. She has EFL Certification and has taken Teacher Development courses from Universidad de Monterrey, La Salle, Cambridge University ESOL, Escuela de la Ciudad de Aguascalientes, and SEP. She holds studies in Educational Counseling (Universidad Autonoma de Aguascalientes) and is a Cambridge Speaker Examiner. She has given workshops at several universities and national seminars for English teachers, and at MEXTESOL and Braz-Tesol.  She has been an academic consultant for MacMillan-Heinneman, Richmond Publishing and Oxford University Press. At the moment she teaches at Columbus School, San Jose del Cabo (BCS).

Professor Fabiola Pérez Palma, Cancun.

Session: Evaluation Based on Competences, Workshop

Biodata: Fabiola Pérez has worked as a full time teacher at Universidad Tecnológica de Cancún for the past 14 years. She is an oral examiner for CAMBRIDGE. She has been an on-line tutor for the British Council and has worked as a freelance translator and coach for the airport, travel agencies and some renowned hotels in the state of Quintana Roo.

Professor Virginia Edith Rosete Tenorio, Cancun.

Session: Evaluation Based on Competences, Workshop

Biodata: Virginia Rosete has worked as a full-time teacher at Universidad Tecnológica de Cancún for the past 4 years. She designed a course for English teachers called “Language Teaching by Content Areas.” Presently she is studying for a Master’s degree in English Language Training on-line with the University of Southampton.

Professor José Ángel Hernández Muñiz, Zihuatanejo.

Session: Innovative Teachers, Workshop

Biodata: José Ángel Hernández Muñiz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the Instituto Tecnológico de la Costa Grande (ITCG), with a specialty in middle school education from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN). In addition, he is a professor of information at the Conalep High School in Zihuatanejo.
