The purpose of this annual “Sun & Fun” event is to help travel professionals and media representatives become familiar with the tourist destination. Hotel accommodations, meals, and event activities are provided free to participants. Event participants are only responsible for the cost of their air transportation.

“Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is a magical, tropical paradise located on the Pacific coast. We have everything – wonderful weather, beaches, museums, historical sites, cultural festivals, and a variety of activities,” says Patricia Riviera, Executive Manager of the Hotel Association. “But, there’s more,” she added. We are a “community!” Foreigners like to visit Ixtapa Zihuatanejo because they can immerse themselves in our diverse community with its many activities.
Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is located in the state of Guerrero which is one of the most diverse states in all of Mexico. There are a variety of different races and ethnic groups living in the state with cultural and linguistic expressions that have given the area a very special image. About 20% of the state’s population are indigenous people; there are more than 20 different languages spoken by inhabitants, and there are significant populations of African and Philippine descendants living in the area.

For 2018, there will be more direct flights to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo (Airport Code: ZIH) from several USA cities on Volaris, Delta, Aeromexico, and United Airlines. There are also many charter flights from Canada offered on Sun Country and Air Canada.
Ms. Riviera of the Hotel Association says, “We want the press and travel professionals to learn about our destination, meet local residents, and actually experience our culture and community! Then, we want everyone to tell the world about us!”
