Tourism News! Lee Kraft Named as Director of Convention & Visitors Bureau in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo

The Conventions & Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo recently announced that Mr. Lee Kraft of Zihuatanejo is its new Executive Director.  The CVB, which is funded through a state tax, consults with the State of Guerrero to coordinate and integrate public and private activities to develop and promote the tourism industry in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. CVB oversees advertising for the area; coordinates activities with airlines and travel agencies; and develops local special events, like “The Art, Culture & Tradition Festival” and “El Paraiso de los Niños” (Paradise for Children).

Originally from Germany, Lee Kraft is a naturalized Mexican citizen who has lived in this country since 1977.  Mr. Kraft has vast experience in the tourism sector. He held professional positions with British airline Dan Air Ltd. in Berlin, Germany; he operated Terramar charter flights in Mexico; he founded Destinos Mundials, an international travel agency with offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Frankfurt and various locations in Latin America; and he has represented several international airlines, such as Areolíneas Argentinas, Lufthansa and El Al Israel.

In Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Lee Kraft has served as President and Vice President of SKAL, the international association of travel and tourism professionals.  He is also serves as the Honorary Consular Agent for Germany and is the owner of “La Quinta Troppo” Hotel, an award-winning facility in Zihuatanejo.

Fluent in several languages and with vast experience in international tourism and the hotel industry, Lee Kraft is a welcomed addition to the leadership of the Conventions & Visitors Bureau in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.

Kraft’s appointment follows news that Zihuatanejo won several international travel awards for 2013, including Trip Advisor’s “Best Destinations in Mexico” and “Best Beaches in Mexico.”  In addition, the State of Guerrero has launched a new program to promote the area called, “Triángulo del Sol” (Spanish) or “Sun Triangle,” and new airline flights to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo have been negotiated.

With new leadership and with new marketing initiatives, the international tourist destination of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is positioned to continue its growth as one of the most spectacular beach areas in Mexico and in the world.
