Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is certified as a "Culture of Peace Community" in partnership with the United Nations. In 2010, the community constructed a Peace Pole Monument as a symbol of its commitment to strive for peace. Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is a tropical beach resort community, located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico City and 2.5 hours by air from Houston, Texas.
