Every Saturday Morning, 9 am – 1 pm, ECO-TIANGUIS FARMER’S MARKET on the main beach in Zihuatanejo: Come out and mingle with the local community every Saturday morning. Local vendors have organic foods, crafts, music, art and more!
Every Saturday Night, 9:30 – 1 am, SALSA NIGHTS AT COCONUTS RESTAURANT in Zihuatanejo: Come out and dance the night away! Coconuts, one of our finest restaurants in Zihuatanejo, offers Free Salsa Classes every Saturday night along with the music of local favorite, Juanito Zihua. Let’s dance!
Tuesday-Friday through March 28 starting at 6 pm, ART, CULTURE & TRADITION FESTIVAL: Come out for an evening of culture! Enjoy live music and entertainment, traditional dancing, folk music and more at our annual cultural festival. It’s free. Just enjoy!

Saturday, March 1, 12 Noon – 6 pm, FESTIVAL PLAYAS Y PLATILLOS (BEACH & PLATTERS) at Playa Larga: Come out for a day of sun and flavors on the beautiful Playa Larga Beach. Local restaurants will prepare their specials. The cost is $200 pesos for Tiritas de Pescado, a pineapple stuffed with seafood, 2 soft drinks or beers. Enjoy these traditional dishes! Sunday, March 2 – Sunday, March 9, ZIHUATANEJO INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL: Get ready for a week of live music in paradise with performances by musicians from around the world. Everyone is invited to attend. For a line-up and preview of performing artists, visit www.zihuafest.info. The Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival was founded in 2004, to bring international music, culture and tourism to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Every spring, this community funded festival brings guitarists from all over the world to our piece of paradise here on the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
The Opening Concert will be held on Sunday, March 2nd at Playa Madera, on the sand, in Zihuatanejo. There are three public access entrances to the beach, with walkways. You can´t miss it. There will be table seating for 500 (no need to bring a blanket). Local restaurants will have food stands. Cover charge is $150 pesos per person, doors open at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Seating is first come, first served. Monday, March 3, WORLD WILDLIFE DAY: World Wildlife Day is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that conservation provides to people. At the same time, the Day reminds us of the urgent need to fight against wildlife crime. Wildlife has an intrinsic value and contributes to the ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational and aspects of our lives. Saturday, Marcy 8, INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY: It’s a time for action! This year’s theme, “A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women” seeks to strengthen the international community’s commitment to put an end to violence against women.
Take action! You can help. Musicians from around the world have joined together to record the song, “One Woman.” Listen to this song and go to the UN website to donate. All proceeds of “One Woman” will go to UN Women to support the work to empower women and improve their lives worldwide.
Saturday, March 15, 9:00 a.m., NATIONAL FLAG & MARCHING BAND DAY: The Municipality of Zihuatanejo Jose Azueta invites you to join the community at Cancha Municipal (main basketball court) for this national tradition. For more information about this national activity, see: Los Mejores Banderas.
Saturday, March 15, 5:30 p.m., THIRD ANNUAL 5K WALK FOR HELENE KREBS ANIMAL FOUNDATION, on Paseo de Viveros in Ixtapa: Come out and support our local animal shelter. Helen Krebs was one of the first American women to live in Zihuatanejo. The animal shelter is named in her memory. The shelter helps hundreds of stray and injured animals each year. You can sign up to walk at Casa Marina Restaurant, on the main beach in Zihuatanejo. A minimum donation of $30 Pesos is requested. Whether you walk or come to spectate, please support this important cause!
