January is a wonderful time to kick back and relax on the beautiful beaches of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. It starts to get cold up north, so visitors from Canada and the United States arrive for vacations or to pass the winter. It’s a small resort town. It’s easy to make friends. And, those friends come back every year.
Whether you are a tourist or resident, kick back and enjoy this wonderful time of the year!
Friday, January 1, AÑO NUEVO (NEW YEAR’S DAY): We wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year! Most people in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo spend New Year’s Day on the beach!
Wednesday, January 6, DÍA DE LOS REYES MAGOS (THREE KINGS DAY): Three Kings Day is a Christmas Holiday that is celebrated in Mexico and in Spain. In Spanish countries, the children receive their gifts on Three Kings Day rather than Christmas. “Three Kings Day” is celebrated with festive lights in the streets, Nativity scenes and holiday songs. There is also a joyful parade called the “Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos,” to symbolize the arrival of the kings.
