Thursday – Sunday, April 4 –7, “LA COPA AMADO” MUSTANG CAR EXHIBITION: A reunion of Mustang autos, organized by the Mustang Performance Club de Mexico A.C. in conjunction with the City of Zihuatanejo’s Department of Tourism and Economic Development. The event will consist of exhibitions in Ixtapa and in Zihuatanejo, and a parade.

Friday through Sunday, April 5 – April 7, SAILFISH TOURNAMENT at the Pier in Zihuatanejo: Once again, the port of Zihuatanejo will host this most traditional, world-class sport fishing event. Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is recognized as one of the best destinations in the world for sport fishing, mainly due to water depth that reaches greater than 1,000 fathoms, which is conducive to more fishing action; Sailfish up to 80 Kilograms/175 pounds are abundant. Every Friday this month, April 5, 12, 19 and 26, 7 POETS FROM THE 7 REGIONS OF GUERRERO: At Cancha Municipal (basketball court) in Zihuatanejo. Everyone is invited to hear the poetry works of seven poets, representing the seven regions of the State of Guerrero. Friday – Sunday, April 26-28, 14th CONVENTION OF THE BLACK TOWNS OF MEXICO in Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca: Blacks in Mexico! Many people do not know about the African presence and cultural contributions in Mexico. There are many towns, due to geographic isolation, that have maintained their original African traditions. Saturday & Sunday, April 27 & 28, EXPO SOCIAL & FASHION IXTAPA ZIHUATANEJO 2013 at the Convention Center in Hotel Krystal Ixtapa, 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.: This is the fashion event of the year! Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is known world-wide for romance. This show includes gowns by local designers for Brides, Sweet 15 Parties (or Sweet 16 in the USA), graduations and other special occasions. Tuesday, April 30, DIA DE NIÑOS (INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE CHILD) IN MEXICO: The United Nations established “Children’s Day” in 1954 to protect children working long hours in dangerous circumstances and allow all children access to an education. “Children’s Day” is recognized on various days in many countries around to world to honor children. In Mexico, Children’s Day is celebrated on April 30. It is also known as “El Día Del Niño”. On this day teachers in schools organize the day for their children. Lessons are suspended for the day. Children participate in games, listen to music, and bring in their favorite foods to share with others. Many families also have a day out with their children. In Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, there are special activities for the children in the restaurants and hotels. Children also receive presents from their families. This is the day when children are really honored in Mexico. So, spend some time with the children in your life!
