Every Saturday Morning, 9 am – 1 pm, ECO-TIANGUIS FARMER’S MARKET on the main beach in Zihuatanejo: Come out and mingle with the local community every Saturday morning. Local vendors have organic foods, crafts, music, art and more!
Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 11, PEACE PALS INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S ART EXHIBITION: For the first time in Mexico, the Peace Pals International Children’s Art Exhibition will launch its national tour starting in Zihuatanejo. The art collection features works of youth from over 80 countries who have submitted their visions of peace.
Each work highlights the message, “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” In Spanish, “Que la paz prevalezca en la tierra.” The events will be both entertainment and fundraisers for educational projects and local charities.
- April 3, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. – Viceroy Hotel in Zihuatanejo
- April 11, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. – Capella Resort in Ixtapa
- Donations of $15 USD or $200 pesos are requested at the door. Children attend free!
Donated funds from these events will be shared with Carol’s Rice and Beans nutritional program that helps to feed needy students in Zihuatanejo. The exhibition will tour the Zihuatanejo area and other destinations throughout Mexico. Saturday, April 4, and Saturday, April 18, PHOTO EXPOSITION AND LIVE MUSIC AT THE LOOT IN ZIHUATANEJO: Visit Zihuatanejo’s hottest new “concept” store, restaurant, and gallery. The LOOT is on the road to La Ropa Beach, just past the statue of the dolphins. Enjoy entertainment every night.
Saturday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m., 3.5K RUN FOR CENDI INSTITUTE IN ZIHUATANEJO: Come out in the evening time and join in for this fun event! Participation is open to the public.
Thursday, April 30, DIA DE NIÑOS (INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE CHILD) IN MEXICO: The United Nations established “Children’s Day” in 1954 to protect children who were working long hours in dangerous circumstances, and to allow all children access to an education. “Children’s Day” is recognized on various days in many countries around to world to honor children.
In Mexico, Children’s Day is celebrated on April 30. It is also known as “El Día Del Niño”. On this day teachers in schools organize the day for their children. Lessons are suspended for the day. Children participate in games, listen to music, and bring in their favorite foods to share with others. Many families also have a day out with their children. In Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, there are special activities for the children in the restaurants and hotels. Children also receive presents from their families. This is the day when children are really honored in Mexico. So, spend some time with the children in your life!
