Every Saturday Night, 9:30 pm – 1 am, SALSA NIGHTS AT COCONUTS RESTAURANT in Zihuatanejo: Come out and dance the night away! Coconuts, one of our finest restaurants in Zihuatanejo, offers Free Salsa Classes every Saturday night along with the music of local favorite, Juanito Zihua. Let’s dance!

Saturday, April 19, 7 am, RUN ON THE BEACH FOR THE TURTLES! At Playa Blanca near the Airport: Sponsored by the Ayotlcalli Sea Turtle Rescue & Conservation Center in Zihuatanejo, this event raises funds for the conservation of local endangered native species of turtles and their inhabitants. Entry Fee: 60 pesos.

INFANTIL (8 to 12 years) 1KM: 1st place ~ $500 pesos; 2nd place ~ 300 pesos; 3rd place ~ 200 pesos
JUVENIL (13 to 18 years) 2KM: 1st place ~ 800 pesos; 2nd place ~ 500 pesos; 3rd place ~ 300 pesos
ADULT (18+ years) 3KM: 1st place ~ 1000 pesos; 2nd place ~ 700 pesos; 3rd place ~ 500 pesos

Wednesday, April 30, DIA DE NIÑOS (INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE CHILD) IN MEXICO: The United Nations established “Children’s Day” in 1954 to protect children working long hours in dangerous circumstances and to allow all children access to an education. “Children’s Day” is recognized on various days in many countries around to world to honor children. In Mexico, Children’s Day is celebrated on April 30. It is also known as “El Día Del Niño”. On this day teachers in schools organize the day for their children. Lessons are suspended for the day. Children participate in games, listen to music, and bring in their favorite foods to share with others. Many families also have a day out with their children. In Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, there are special activities for the children in the restaurants and hotels. Children also receive presents from their families. This is the day when children are really honored in Mexico. So, spend some time with the children in your life!
