Zihuatanejo was once a small fishing village that has now grown into an international tourist destination. But, we’re still small at heart! You can still find several small, “family-owned” properties in the area for you to enjoy.
Catalina Beach Resort (formerly Hotel Catalina) is a landmark on La Ropa Beach in Zihuatanejo. It was the first hotel built on the shoreline and has been in operation for sixty years. Catalina Beach Resort is part of the rich history of Zihuatanejo. It is owned by Mrs. Eva Bergtold, a German immigrant, who has operated the hotel for many of these years.
The hotel is located on two hectares of plush tropical vegetation on a hillside above La Ropa Beach. It has only forty-six rooms. Each room has a magnificent view of the beach and the bay, a large gorgeous terrace with a hammock, chaise lounges, and a cozy sitting center for quiet beachside relaxation, or listening to the beautiful morning songs of the birds. The hotel is surrounded by incredible fauna with tropical birds, butterflies, and wildlife. You can immerse yourself in nature! A golf cart is provided for guests who need assistance traversing the property.
Catalina Beach Resort, with its plush environment and ocean view, has been host to many national and international artists, movie stars, and writers, including Lauren Hutton, John Wayne, Richard Widmark, Liz Taylor, Mick Jagger, and Grace Jones. All have requested the warmth and gentle privacy that have long been the heart and spirit of Catalina Beach Resort. Contact: mailto:email@example.com
Catalina Beach Resort has a wonderful restaurant on-site that provides beachside service for hotel guests, and is open to the public. It has a delightful menu of seafood, traditional Mexican cuisine and international dishes. Click to download the menu: Catalina Beach Resort Restaurant Menu
