My Top Five: By Jennyfer Sanchez

Editor’s Note: We want to hear more from our young people. They have wonderful ideas and dreams. So, we are opening this music page to guest “DJs” from our local high schools and colleges. Their selections may surprise you!

My name is Jennyfer Sanchez, but Jenny is okay.

I’m eighteen years old. I was born in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo on September 28, 1997. I still live in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. I’m graduated from Prepa 5 high school that is located in Zihuatanejo. For college, I want to study industrial design.

I like to draw and paint. I like to sing too, but I just sing for myself. On weekends, I usually go skateboarding on the cycling path. Sometimes my friends come over and we just watch movies or do random stuff that I like a lot.

I love listening to music everywhere and always. I have a kind of weird interest. I like to look at clouds, stars, the sky, by day and night, which is weird because most people would get bored, but I don’t. It gives me time to think and realize we are just a small part of the universe.

Here are my “Top Five” songs that I enjoy. I hope you like them too!

Artist:   Dirty South and Alesso, featuring Ruben Haze

Song:   “City of Dreams”

This is a remix of the original song, but it features my home town of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.

Artist:    Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole

Song:   “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”

Israel was born in Hawaii, USA (May 20, 1959-June 26, 1997). Zihuatanejo is not an island like Hawaii, but it’s a beach place. This song makes me feel the good vibes and helps me to relax. This song is one of my favorites. It might be a little old, but for me it is one of the best.

Artist:    Calvin Harris

Song:     “Summer”

This song is about the end of summer, when the leaves start turning brown. It must take place up north, because summer in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is the rainy season and our leaves are green! I love this song!

Artist:    Enrique Iglesias, featuring Descemer Bueno, Gente De Zona

Song:     “Bailando”

This is a very popular video on YouTube.

Artist:    Lana Del Rey versus Cedric Gervais

Song:     “Summertime Sadness” Remix

Lana Del Rey has gained a lot of fame during the last few years. She is popular here in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, and all over Mexico. Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (born June 21, 1985), known by her stage name, Lana Del Rey, is an American singer–songwriter.

I hope you enjoyed my music show! I had fun doing it.
